A new guide has been published to support manufacturers and other economic operators in meeting their legal obligations under the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (GB). Published in conjunction with the Construction Products Association (CPA), the technical briefing explains when a Declaration of Performance (DoP) must be created, what it must include, and how it should be provided.
The DoP is a legal requirement for construction products covered by designated standards or UK Technical Assessments. It plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and comparability across the industry, giving architects, specifiers and contractors confidence in product performance. The guide clearly sets out the responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors and authorised representatives. It also includes step-by-step instructions for preparing a compliant DoP and highlights the potential consequences of non-compliance, including enforcement action.
Duncan Johnson, Deputy Director at the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), welcomed the publication, noting that it will help “manufacturers produce accurate Declarations of Performance for their products and help buyers select the right product for the right function, contributing to better, safer buildings.”
GAI members involved in manufacturing, importing or distributing construction products are encouraged to review the guide to ensure they are fully compliant with current GB market requirements.
