Chancellor Summer Statement 2020
The UK Chancellor delivered the Summer Statement 2020, ‘A Plan for Jobs
’ on 8 July 2020. Included in the announcements were a Job Retention Bonus, a £2 billion Green Homes Grant and a Stamp Duty Holiday.
Construction Talent Retention Scheme
Announced by the Chancellor in his Summer Statement, the scheme is run by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) which is made up of trade and business associations from across the supply chain, including the CPA, of which GAI is a member company. The scheme will support the redeployment of workers at risk of redundancy. This will help retain construction skills and match talented workers to opportunities across the UK. CLC Site Operating Procedures: Version 5
The Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures have been updated to reflect the latest Government guidance following the easing of lockdown measures in England from Saturday 4 July.
The ‘one metre plus’ social distancing guidelines require workers to stay two metres apart, or one metre with risk mitigation where two metres is not viable, and it is expected that sites will maintain the social distancing measures in place.

BSI guidance on safe working during the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines: version 2
BSI have issued a series of practical steps to support safe working, and prevent and mitigate COVID-19 outbreaks in your organisation. Version 2 of the Guidelines offers a comprehensive, practical approach, applicable to all organisations, large and small.
The Guidelines provide recommendations, based on user experience and expert input, for safe working during the pandemic. They have been enhanced and extended, based on the best and latest information, to help prevent a second wave.
