This CPD session will explore the history and evolution of mental health ironmongery, from its origins to the present day, and examine the vital role it plays in modern mental healthcare environments. During the session, we will cover: · The history of mental healthcare and the evolution of specialist products. · The early innovators who shaped the industry. · How ironmongery has developed to meet the changing needs of the mental health and custodial sectors. · Current standards and best practice. · The key events within the custodial and mental health sectors that have driven product development. · Common challenges, including: o Cylinder manipulation o Room lockouts o Anti-barricade failures · Practical solutions and approaches to managing each of these situations
