This July, the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers will bring its members together in the heart of the Midlands at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre for the GAI AGM & Competence Forum 2026. The event will provide a central setting for connection, insight and discussion at a pivotal moment for the industry.
The event brings together the Guild’s Annual General Meeting with a focused Competence Forum, combining the formal business of the organisation with a programme exploring competence, regulation and the future direction of the construction products sector. At a time of significant change, it offers members the opportunity to stay informed, share perspectives, and engage with evolving expectations.
We are honoured to welcome Dame Judith Hackitt as keynote speaker. Her leadership following Grenfell has reshaped national conversations around competence, accountability and standards, and her perspective on the evolving regulatory landscape — and what it means for our profession — promises to be both timely and insightful. This will be followed by a panel-style discussion with Dame Judith and GAI CEO Rachael Bliss, offering a valuable opportunity to hear directly from one of the most influential voices in building safety reform.
In addition, the event will explore the Guild’s forward plans in relation to emerging competence frameworks, including BS 8670-2, and the practical implications for members and the wider industry.
Open exclusively to corporate member companies and individual members of the Guild, the GAI AGM & Competence Forum 2026 provides an important opportunity to stay informed, connect with peers, and engage with the issues shaping the future of architectural ironmongery.
Attendance is free of charge for all corporate member companies and individual members.
IN ORDER TO OPEN REGISTRATION FOR THE EVENT, PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE LOGGED INTO THE WEBSITE FIRST.
