In all, the GAI represents the architectural ironmongery sector on more than 40 UK and international standards committees and drafting panels, as well as organisations including the Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG), Construction Leadership Council Standards and Regulatory Alignment Forum, and Passive Fire Protection Forum (PFPF).

The Guild also chairs a number of influential panels including BSI B538/4 British Standards Building Hardware Committee, Shadow Fenestration Relevant Authority, Certifier Hardware Panel and Sector Led Group 5 for competence in construction products. It also continuously represents members interest with various Government departments across the UK.

Through this work, the GAI speaks on behalf of its members in critical aspects of today’s construction agenda, such as BIM, competence, sustainability and the creation of BS, EN and ISO standards.
